Sometimes we get into a slump because of the everyday drag. Feeling unsatisfied and down everyday can lead to depression so it’s a good idea to do something that will give you an energy boost. Here are some easy things you can do to get some energy and get out of that slump.
Just try something new. Research has shown that new experiences give you a rush. When you do something new and exciting, the brain releases dopamine which has been shown to be a motivating chemical that gears us up to do more. So, when you do something new and exciting, your brain instantly wants to do even more new things. You don’t have to jump out of an airplane either, it can be something as easy as taking a trip or learning a new language.
Simply moving around can give you more energy. The more active you are, the better your circulation will be. For people with desk jobs this is especially important. Instead of just plopping down on the sofa when you get home, go for a walk or do some simple exercises. Just keep moving.
One of the greatest benefits of meditation is that it teaches you to breath deeply. Your body needs plenty of oxygen and breathing deeply can help. When you feel like you’re losing steam, just do some deep breathing. Take your time to inhale and fill your lungs, wait a few seconds and then exhale slowly. Do that several times and you’ll feel the extra energy.
Drink plenty of fluids to increase your energy. Your body needs water to transport oxygen to your cells. When you don’t have enough fluids, you may feel tired or get headaches. Experts say that drinking at least four tall glasses of water or low-calorie beverages a day should do the trick.
Get into the habit of doing some of these things and stop feeling run down.
