Last week, we talked about several tips that would help us make the most delicious chicken wings, including the number of people that would be eating, when to buy the wings, whether we want to buy whole or pre-cut wings, and how to cut them if we chose to get whole wings. In Part 2 of this How to Make the Most Delicious Chicken Wings tip list, we will go over the tricky part, which consists of cooking and saucing the wings.
As many chicken wing aficionados might know, both baking and deep/frying chicken wings is one of the best ways to cook this popular snack. Through this classic technique, restaurants and bars are able to get the perfect balance between crispy skin and tender, juicy chicken. However, chances are we don’t have the equipment needed at home, so we have gathered some alternatives that we can use and that will give us equally delicious results. For example, we can cook our wings in the oven, and adding baking powder is the secret ingredient that will give us crispy yet tender wings.
We can also opt to make our wings in a slow-cooker, which is a pretty hands-off technique that will give us great results. Once our wings are ready to be cooked, we need to place the wings inside our slow-cooking pot, pour the sauce mixture over them, cook them on High settings for two hours, and then on Low settings for another couple of hours.
Another great way to cook chicken wings and get a delicious result is by grilling them. Even when it might not sound like the most common cooking method for wings, grilling them will give you a very enjoyable taste. Preheat your grill and then place the wings there for no more than 30 minutes, making sure you turn them occasionally. This way, your wings will have milder sauce, and the smoky and caramelized taste of the grill will be the highlight of the snack.
Now, regardless of the cooking technique we choose for our wings, one thing is certain: chicken wings are only as good as the sauce we add. Having this in mind, we should think about all the different sauce recipes out there, and try to limit our snacks to only a couple of them. If we want to go for something classic, we can’t forget Buffalo sauce, which is not a fire-breathing one, but one that will give us the right touch of spicy sauce. If we want to go for something more on the sweet and sticky side of the chicken wings spectrum, we can try adding a Teriyaki Sauce.
