Office parties aren’t always just for the holidays, there are other reasons for office get togethers like retirements, celebrating a company milestone or some other success. What ever the reason may be, someone, or some people must organize it, and make all the arrangements so that it can be a success. If you’re the lucky one designated or volunteering to do the job, here are some helpful tips.
Make sure the date is convenient. Give people plenty of notice so that they can make arrangement, especially if your affair is around the holiday season. Consider having it during office hours, that makes it easier for people to be available.
Location is important. If your get together is out of the office, try to pick a location near to the office. There are plenty of restaurants with meeting or gathering rooms just for occasions like yours. If you decide to do it in the office, try to make the area more party like by removing business related items as much as possible.
A big consideration is the food and drink. Be sure that the food and beverages include the full range of your staff’s dietary needs and preferences. A good idea is to include a line at the bottom of the party invitation where they can write in any special dietary needs they might have. Just make sure there’s plenty of everything to go around.
Sometimes it’s a good idea to recommend what attire is expected. It may seem obvious to most, but some people will appreciate the information. To ensure your staff can relax and have fun don’t make it formal unless the occasion really calls for it.
Lastly, but very important is to make plans in case someone parties a little too much. You should always use caution if you’ll be serving alcohol at a work sponsored event. Have rides available, or make other transportation arrangement for those who may need it.
Above all, have a great party!
