People are becoming more aware of what they eat and where it comes from. Getting educated about what is in our food has become a national concern as more people are showing the effects of bad nutrition. Natural and whole foods are taking the place of processed foods in more households around the country. But it’s not always convenient, or economically sensible for everyone to eat the right food all the time. So, if you can’t eat all the right foods all the time, at least try to stay away from these.
If you drink a lot of soda, try to cut back a little. An average can of soda has 10 teaspoons of sugar, 150 calories and some other bad things. Diet soda isn’t any better as it has unhealthy artificial sweeteners. Drinking too much soda can lead to bad things like diabetes, weight gain and tooth decay.
French fries and potato chips contain acrylamide which is a known carcinogen and neurotoxin which is formed foods are baked or fried at high temperatures. On top of that, French fries and potato chips also have trans fats which have been linked to raising levels of bad cholesterol while lowering good cholesterol. All this leads to an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke and cancer.
Donuts are a tasty treat, unfortunately they’re loaded with trans fats and refined sugar. Donuts have virtually no nutritional value and instead are full of the things that can eventually kill you.
If you like canned soup, you better make sure what kind you get. Most of the canned soups you find at the grocery store have high levels of trans fats, sodium and artificial preservatives like MSG. Instead of the traditional canned soups, look for natural, organic brands and be sure to read the labels. Of course, if you like soup, nothing beats home made using natural ingredients.
