Nothing says snack time the way a plate of hot and spicy chicken wings does, as this dish has become a must at every celebration and get together. From a family barbecue to a sporting event and a night out with our friends, chicken wings are the best way to keep our guests satisfied. However, having as many options available as there are nowadays, it might be difficult to compete against established restaurants and pubs. This doesn’t necessarily have to be true, as we can make our own plate of finger-licking chicken wings ourselves following these simple but useful tips.
The very first aspect to consider when preparing chicken wings is thinking about how many people will be eating them. Often times, we are unsure of just how much chicken we should buy, and this can lead to further issues down the cooking and serving process. If we buy too many wings, we might end up cooking more than needed, but if we buy too little, we’ll end up short on snacks for sure. The best way to make sure we buy the right amount is by getting 4 pounds of chicken wings for every 10 people.
Another common issue we might face is getting the right time to actually buy the wings we’ll cook. This can be particularly problematic, especially if we are planning on cooking chicken wings for a sporting event, such as the Super Bowl. Therefore, the best way to make sure we get our snacks ready is by buying the wings a couple of days before, regardless of them being frozen or fresh. If you buy fresh wings, you can freeze them for a couple of days without a problem.
Every time we go out to shop for chicken wings, there is an important question we need to ask ourselves. We need to decide whether we want to buy whole wings or pre-cut wings. In order to make the right choice, we need to figure out if we want to save time or if we want to save money. If you want to save time, the best choice would be to buy pre-cut wings. However, if we want to save money, we might want to buy whole wings and then cut them ourselves.
If we chose to buy whole wings, we need to remember that we can cut the wings into three different parts, being the drumette, the flat, and the tip. If this is your first time cutting up a chicken wing, you shouldn’t have much trouble identifying the three parts. Just make sure you chop where the wing bends, and you’ll get a hold of it after a couple of wings. Once you have chopped all the wings you bought, they will be ready for cooking. There are many different tips to follow when it comes to cooking chicken wings, which we will explore in Part 2 of this blog, which will be posted next Friday.
