Are Veggies Protein?
When you think of the nutrients that veggies contain, you probably think of vitamins (like the vitamin A in carrots) or minerals (like the iron in spinach). But some vegetables are also a good source of protein.
Protein is an important part of your diet because it is an important building block of the tissues in the human body. And while animal meat is the most common source of protein, veggies can play a role too.

Plant Protein or Animal Protein?
Protein that comes from veggies is known as plant protein, while the meat we obtain by eating meat is animal protein. So, which one is best? Is plant protein just as good as animal protein?
These questions matter, among other things, because when people decide to go vegan, they still need a source of protein, and if they don’t want to eat meat, the only alternative is plant protein.
Proteins are formed thanks to the combination of molecules called amino acids. There are nine amino acids considered essential. Proteins that contain all nine essential amino acids are called complete proteins.
Now, what you need to keep in mind is that most animal proteins are complete proteins, while the opposite is true for plant proteins. However, even with a vegan diet, you can obtain all the amino acids you need. The only caveat is that you have to plan your diet carefully to ensure your protein needs are well covered.
