One of our favorite things about chicken is that it is a universal meat, and there are many recipes and dishes from around the world that we love to prepare and enjoy. However, Asian cuisine is one of the richest ones there are when it comes to chicken dishes, so we decided to make a list of some of our favorite ones. This short list includes some classic dishes and some lesser-known dishes too, giving you an idea of just how complex and delicious Asian cuisine can get.
What better way to start this list than with a timeless and classic Asian chicken dish like Teriyaki chicken wings. The sticky-sweet meal is great for any number of people, as you can prepare a small amount to enjoy as a snack, or go big and prepare a large amount when hosting a dinner party or having friends over. The best way to achieve the right color and sweet taste is by using more pineapple juice than sugar for glazing the wings. This will give us the classic mahogany hue and the unique taste we all know and love.
Another Asian chicken dish that has become an all-time favorite is the well-known Kung Pao chicken. This dish is sure to be found in the menu of any Chinese restaurant that specializes in Szechuan style cuisine. This delicious dish goes great with a side of brown rice, and even when this combination isn’t precisely traditional, it has become quite popular, and both complement each other great.
We cannot talk about Asian chicken dishes without talking about noodles, which are considered a symbol of good luck, in case you didn’t know. Pad Thai is a stir-fried rice noodle dish that is an essential part of Thailand’s cuisine, and most of the restaurants and street stands offer it. It has a characteristic mix of rich and vibrant flavors, that go from funky to sour and sweet, using ingredients like chicken, fish sauce, dried shrimp, and tamarind paste. If you want to go for a vegetarian take on the dish, you can change the chicken for a mix of your favorite greens, and the results will be just as delicious.
Last but not least, we recently discovered one of Korean cuisine’s most delicious gifts, and we haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Tak Toritang is a spicy stew that is really easy to prepare, as it requires very simple ingredients that are available almost anywhere, including the gochujang chili paste. All we need are chicken drumettes, potato, carrots, and onion simmer mixed with the spicy sauce and we are ready to prepare it. If you want to turn this into a full meal, you can serve it with a side of Kongnamool, a light and refreshing salad that will help you balance the spicy taste of Tak toritang.
