People have many reasons to cook, some cook for fun and pleasure or maybe as a hobby while others do it as a necessity. Whether you cook for fun or necessity, the right tools and appliances can make things easier and turn out better. Whatever level of cooking experience you are at, there are certain things that you should have in your kitchen that will make you better.
It would be difficult to cook without a good set of knives. Beginner or experienced cooks will agree that a good set of knives is a requirement. If you’re going to cook something, chances are you’ll need to cut things. Most prep work requires chopping, cutting, slicing and dicing so a good set of knives only makes sense. As a good cook it also makes sense to keep those knives sharp. Give those knives a good sharpening every couple of weeks.
A good sauté pan is something every cook should have. Sauté pans are good for everything from basic veggie sautéing to cooking all kinds of sauces. A good 12-inch sauté pan will get you through most of your cooking requirements.
Because most cooking will probably include some baking, you’re going to need an oven baking dish. You can buy that individually or as a set, but you will be needing at least one good baking dish at some point in your cooking life.
Spatulas come in handy in too many ways to count. Every cook should have some heat resistant silicone spatulas. Everything from scrambling eggs to mixing deserts and stir fry will be so much easier with some of these at your reach.
A slow cooker is good to have around once you’ve gotten past the basics and want to get a little more creative. A slow cooker will open up a whole different world of cooking. Chowders, paellas, wings and ribs will all be on your menu with a slow cooker.
Finally, every kitchen needs some fine mesh strainers. These will come in handy and you’ll be glad you have them.
