Water is the best drink in the world, it’s highly underrated and should become everyone’s beverage of choice. There are a lot of dehydrated people out there and it’s been suggested that the obesity crisis is due in part to dehydration.
Most American not only don’t drink enough water but dehydrate themselves with caffeine and alcohol. People tend to do everything from going to the gym, to taking long trips without properly hydrating and the body suffers for it.
It’s true that drinking water help with weight loss. It assuages false hunger, fulfills the brains need for water, which it can mistake for a desire for sugar. It also makes us look and feel better, so taking care of ourselves comes more naturally.
But there’s more to drinking plenty of water than just losing weight. Every chemical reaction that takes nutrients and turns them into energy requires a water molecule. Ramping up those chemical reactions so the entire system works more efficiently has the added effect of helping people lose weight.
So, get into the habit of drinking water by making it more available to you. Keep a pitcher of water in your fridge at home and another on your desk at work, add some lemon slices for flavor. That way every time you feel like having something to drink the waters right there.
Water is easy to carry with you too. If you have water with you it makes it less likely you will pick up a can of soda when you want a drink. Try to choose water instead of other beverages until it becomes a habit. Always accept water if it is offered. Once you start drinking enough water you will like it more.
